My name is Juliet Marciano, MD, founder of Marciano Parent Coaching, LLC.

I’m a PCI Certified Parent Coach®️, a pediatrician (retired from practice), and a mother of four young adults, several with “extra” needs.

You may not realize how much the families in your practice and community are struggling and suffering. When a family faces a challenge such as divorce or parenting a child with extra needs including childhood anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, sensory issues, challenging behavior, or "big feelings", parents need help. When a child has special needs or extra needs, the whole family is affected.

Even if the parents are able to find the therapists, specialists, and doctors for their child, often the parenting challenges go unaddressed. Parents wonder how to parent a child whose “extra needs” require extra time, extra patience, extra energy, and extra parenting strategies to guide them through life, and they wonder how to help the siblings with their extra challenges.

Most parents of children with special needs and extra needs are still struggling to figure out what this challenge means for their parenting dreams and what is possible for their family given their new “reality”.

Often, they’re exhausted and feel lonely and isolated. They feel that nobody understands what they’re going through. Some parents are judged and criticized by friends, family members, school personnel, and strangers. They are confused and struggling to understand their children and their behavior.

Their parenting experience isn't anything like what they imagined it would be, and they often wonder how they will meet the needs of ALL their children when one of them is requiring so much of the family's time and energy and so many emotional and financial resources.

They want to feel calmer and less stressed despite their stressful situation, and they’ve often sacrificed their own self-care and wonder how much longer they can keep up. They’re having trouble sorting through the flood of parenting advice they find on-line, from people who have no knowledge of their challenges or the particular needs of their family.

They’re unsure of the best way to parent. These parents are in need of assistance with improving the quality of their family life, dealing with the current family struggles, and laying the groundwork for a deeper connection to sustain them as they prepare for what may be a challenging future. These are the parents I help.

If you’re speaking to a parent who is facing a family challenge and is struggling to handle a parenting experience that is very different from what they had expected, I can help. I work with parents of children with a physical, mental, behavioral, emotional, or learning difference, or parents guiding their children before, during, or after divorce, and I help them to become the parents their children need them to be!

After working with me, parents have a calmer, more connected, more “conscious”, and more confident parenting experience. If you have a patient who is experiencing their parents’ divorce or has ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, “sensory issues”, “big emotions”, or challenging behaviors, please consider me as a resource for their parents.

Getting your patient the therapies and support that they need is crucial, but it’s not enough. Their parents need their own support.

I offer parents coaching guidance in a knowledgeable, understanding, non-judgmental, and compassionate manner and help parents reclaim the joy of parenting no matter what challenges they face or struggles they encounter.

I work exclusively with parents or other caregivers, and, although I have been trained in and have actively practiced pediatrics in the past, I am no longer practicing medicine in any capacity or giving medical advice. I am not involved in providing medical care or managing medical aspects of the children.

Because my coaching is done by phone or video calls, and I have flexible hours, (including evenings and weekends), I’m able to accommodate the scheduling needs of most parents.

I know that I can be a valuable resource you can count on to assist you in meeting the needs of children and families. I look forward to working with any families that you refer. What Happens When Parents Don't Get the Help They Need

They and their child will continue to engage in the same patterns and they'll never deal with the challenges of their child’s behavior, understand how it triggers them, and develop an appropriate and healthy response.

Their home life will continue to be stressful and volatile. Their child will continue with meltdowns or behavioral challenges and parents won’t develop the skills to help their child calm down and avoid meltdowns in the future.

They will suffer lost productivity at work due to their constant stress level, late mornings, and disruptions throughout the day.

If parents can’t help their children through the challenge of having a sibling with special needs, their sibling relationships may be forever strained, as well as their relationship with the parents.

Interactions with extended family will continue to be strained and parent can’t enjoy family events and holidays due to their being on edge regarding their child’s behavior and their family’s judgement.

Parents will isolate themselves from their friends in fear that they will expose the truth of their parenting challenges and they and their child will be misunderstood and judged.

Parents will experience exhaustion and stress related illnesses as they continue to neglect their own self-care, possibly requiring doctor appointments, medications, emergency room visits, and hospitalizations.

If parents can’t find a way to calmly assist their child in facing their challenges, their family life will suffer even more.

Their child feels worse about themself as all attention is on their challenges rather than their strengths.

Their frustration level and sadness increase as they feel less and less equipped to handle the reality of their life.

They spend their parenting time in conflict rather than connection.

Their children live in chaos rather than calm, and their nervous systems get reset to a "norm" of stress and activation.

Their child feels alone in their struggles when they feel that their parents don't understand them and can't help them.

I know how much I suffered without support through my parenting challenges and many times I hear parents say, “I wish I had met you years ago”. This is your opportunity to save them years of struggle, pain, and suffering.

For many parents, the value of that is priceless, and they don't want another day to go by without getting help!
