When Divorcing, Make the Well-Being of Your Children a Priority
Jan 21, 2026
When divorcing, make the well-being of your children a priority. Sounds so simple, but not always easy. Ask yourself, "How will this affect my children?" If there's a chance it will affect them in a negative way, take a pause and reconsider.
Be careful.
Sometimes your loved ones encourage you to get even, make life harder for your ex-partner, or fight over everything. Often, they’re well-intentioned. If you’ve been betrayed, blindsided, or hurt, they think that you deserve to seek revenge. But life doesn’t work that way.
Don’t do things just to make life harder for your ex-partner because in the end your children will suffer.
Working together with your partner to figure out and do what’s best for your children may be one of the last decisions you make as a couple and one of the most important.
